Church planting in Japan

Christ Church Riverside

We now have a name for the church we are preparing to plant. With the hope that we might be like the tree by the river - rooted in the words of Jesus - we have named the church “Christ Church Riverside (川のほとりキリスト教会). Please pray that we might bear much fruit in this riverside city of Futakotamagawa.

Since September, we have been looking for other partners who might help us launch this church plant. We have come to see how difficult this task is! With very few Christians in the first place, and many struggling churches, we have realized that this will be a long process.

Praise the Lord for those who have joined the team. We have had much encouragement from [a couple] who will be arriving in Japan at the end of this month, and from T… who hopes to join at a later date. We are also thankful for the few individuals who continue to consider the prospects of joining this church plant. Please pray that we will be encouraged by the gospel, even when things feel slow, and that we will become a group that is firmly rooted in the words of Jesus.
